Job Description:
Relic Entertainment is looking for a Senior Network/Lobby Programmer to join the Online Group and help build and maintain a feature rich common lobby system across multiple console and PC titles.
Relic’s Online Group is looking for a mature, focused personality to assist us in developing and maintaining a first rate, stable online multiplayer experience for our games. The Online Group touches a broad array of studio initiatives including community building, digital distribution, micro transactions, UI refinement and customer support. The result is the opportunity to critically evaluate core studio practice and assist in shaping the future vision for the group.
Our ideal candidate will work and communicate effectively with an interdisciplinary mix of Production, Design and Art.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the overall architecture and implementation of the network infrastructures needed for our next generation of games
- Build a feature rich common lobby system across multiple console and PC titles
- Participate in/lead cross-disciplinary meetings and solve problems
- Help schedule engineering effort for the team
Requirements:
- Experience in client, server, Web and database programming technologies
- Thorough understanding of server architecture and TCP/IP networking
- Proficient in C/C++
- Proven leadership and mentorship abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
Assets:
- Formal Engineering degree, Computer Science degree
- Experience with lobby middleware (Windows/Xbox Live, PS3, Quazal, Daemonware, Gamespy)
- Distributed network objects with latency compensation
- Cryptography background
- C#, Python experience
- Providing Library support to other teams
- Database clusters
- Enterprise server hardware
- Scaleform, or any other GUI toolkit or API
