Job Description

Want to be a part of a continued legacy in RTS gaming? At Relic Entertainment we develop original IP and build on our history of award winning games – games like Homeworld and Dawn of War. Experience freedom of creativity and know your contribution is valued and recognized – by the Relic team, and also by gamers and industry experts around the globe. Life outside of Relic?? You bet. We know, it’s a novel idea, but one we not only embrace, we enforce. If you are going to live in Vancouver, you better have time away from work to take advantage of all this city has to offer. Vancouver is consistently ranked in the top most livable cities. Where else can you get up and choose between beach volleyball, or boarding the glacier, all within 90 minutes?

We’ve got mountains. We’ve got ocean. We’ve got a chill studio in the heart of downtown. And…We’ve got donuts every Friday. What more could you ask for?

Relic is looking for a Build Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate possesses outstanding communication skills and is capable of working with a team of programmers in the design and implementation of a powerful suite of tools for all disciplines, including art, design, programming and production.

  • Communicate engineering milestone achievements to the Lead Programmer & Producer
  • Support the engineering teams by ensuring availability of build system software and hardware
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of the current build systems and processes
  • Provide input regarding processes, procedures and the product during the production cycle
  • Understand how large products are configured and the operational needs of the online group
  • Engineer improvements to the build system software
  • Work with the production team to create and maintain an effective patching pipeline
  • Create builds for internal and external groups when required

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical degree or equivalent
  • 4 to 5 years of programming experience
  • Proficiency in C++, C#, and scripting languages such as Python/LUA
  • Solid understanding of source management software (e.g. Perforce, SourceSafe, etc.)
  • Ability to identify process gaps or problems, collect information, establish facts, engage and influence appropriate resources and effectively implement changes
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Proactive and independent in nature, but can take direction well
  • Experience with full cycle development having shipped one or two products as a programmer
